WORLD OF WEARABLE ARTS
The World of WearableArt, known as WOW, is a renowned international design competition that attracts hundreds of entries from all over the world.  The show is held over 3 weeks each year at the TSB Arena in Wellington, bringing in huge crowds and giving designers an opportunity to make creations like they have never before.

My own World of Wearable Arts journey started in 2010 after being  inspired
to enter this incredible show by my talented group of friends (now known as the POW WOW Girls) .  Having come from a Fashion Design background I thought, I could give this a go!! - little did I know then, how addictive it would become.

My experience with WOW has definitely come with ups and downs. There are no guarantees your creation, that you've consumed hours and hours of your time will actually make it onto the stage, and it can be disappointing when you don't but amazing when you do.   WOW has allowed me to push myself like I would never have done before.  It has made me experiment and manipulate materials and discover what works and what doesn't.   Competition is extremely high, 1/3 of the designers now come from overseas, therefore  the feeling you get when you are accepted (notified that you are a finalist) is extremely special.

Wow is contagious - when one show finishes your thoughts go straight to next years show.  What category will I do, what materials shall I use, what can I do?  - and then those hours & hours of creative frustration start all over again!!!
